Singapore, 13 June 2025 – Meiko Tailor, one of Singapore’s most established bespoke tailoring brands, proudly announces the opening of its latest atelier at 35A Boat Quay. This milestone celebrates a refreshed brand identity of this 48-year-old homegrown bespoke tailor, as well as the debut of Uncommon Hem by Meiko Tailor, a new label that bridges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary creativity for styleforward clientele.

Beyond providing quality bespoke tailoring services for its clients, Meiko Tailor’s Boat Quay atelier is thoughtfully designed to cater to its growing clientele of women. The space ensures greater privacy and features an expanded hub selection of fabrics tailored for custom commissions.

Envisioned as a hub for creative exchange, it also serves as a collaborative platform where local designers from diverse disciplines can connect, collaborate, and inspire one another.

Helmed by Master Tailor Chung Chi Kwong and his daughter, Adele Chung, who joined the family business in 2018, the 48-year-old brand continues to grow while preserving its timeless values of craftsmanship and exacting detail.

Master Tailor Chung Chi Kwong says: “When I first started tailoring nearly fifty years ago, I laid out our philosophy clearly — to make clothes that not only fit the body, but to honour the details and individuality of each person who walks through the doors. Our new Boat Quay atelier is an extension of this legacy, and I am proud to see my daughter Adele bringing her own design concepts and fashion sensibilities to the brand while honouring our principles.”

Also debuting at the Boat Quay atelier is Uncommon Hem by Meiko Tailor, a new sub-brand that combines the tailoring excellence of Meiko Tailor with a modern, sustainable ethos.

Spearheaded by Adele Chung, Uncommon Hem utilises surplus luxury fabrics — some with over a decade of history — that are transformed into refined and expressive tailored pieces catered to a designconscious audience, honouring their origins while reimagining their potential.

From striking contemporary qipao tops to bespoke casual menswear and couture-inspired statement pieces, Uncommon Hem offers an edgier yet refined alternative to traditional bespoke tailoring.

Adele Chung, Founder and Bespoke Designer of Uncommon Hem, says: “When I joined the family business, I was clear that I wanted to carry on my father’s legacy, more importantly to share my father’s tailoring tales which continues to inspire me. Uncommon Hem is my way of celebrating what my father and mother have built, while imagining how tailoring can evolve for the next generation. I want to show that tradition and innovation can coexist, and by turning surplus fabrics into contemporary designs, we’re preserving the artistry of tailoring while pushing it into new territory.”

Uncommon Hem also absorbs the former Adorn & Co line, unifying bespoke options for men and women under one innovative platform. Its offerings include limited-edition pre-order garments, bespoke commissions, and seasonal drops, each crafted with a focus on sustainability and emotional resonance. A New Chapter for a Storied Tailor.

From its humble beginnings in Geylang Lorong 3 to its flagship at Pan Pacific Hotel, Meiko Tailor has been a trusted name for generations of loyal clients, including international dignitaries and prominent figures.

The new Boat Quay studio seamlessly weaves together the brand’s rich heritage with contemporary flair, reinforcing its dedication to exceptional craftsmanship and community engagement.

Adele envisions the space as a hub for creative collaborations, with plans to host intimate workshops and showcase the work of local designers and makers. On 2 August, the studio will host a bespoke artisanal tea exploration workshop in collaboration with SayangMe Tea, offering participants a sensory experience of tailored tea blends. Further details will be shared on Instagram in July.

Revealed alongside the new space is a refreshed brand identity that bridges timeless heritage with a forwardlooking vision. A new logo encapsulates this ethos, adorned as it is in rich burgundy and gold hues, reflects the brand’s enduring commitment to craftsmanship and sophistication. Burgundy embodies depth, passion, and tradition, while gold signifies prestige and refinement — together, they celebrate Meiko Tailor’s mastery in bespoke tailoring, crafted to accompany each client through every milestone of their journey.
